I was asked to do this piece by the moderators of the Other Worlds Cafe chat room. When going to conventions they wanted something to advertise the two chat rooms they have on aol so it was decided they wanted a bookmark.

The aliens at the bottom of the front of the book mark came from a rough sketch by one of the people who asked me to make the bookmark. I took the sketch into Illustrator and cleaned up the lines, then I took the Illustrator drawing into Photoshop for painting. The space background and planets were done separately in Photoshop through the Glitterato and LunarCell plugins from Flaming Pear. The coffee cup was drawn in Illustrator.

Everything was then brought back into Illustrator for final composition and typesetting.

Just recently I was asked to do another design for them. The front of the book mark is made to emulate the poster in Agent Mulder's office from The X-Files tv show, only the UFO is replaced with a squid—the mascot of the OWC chatroom. The illustration on the back was updated to be a little more realistic, but as before was done entirely in Adobe Illustrator.

Fonts used: Fusaka and Galahad on the first version and Myriad, Dalliance, and Vendetta on the second.
