When the Titanium PowerBook came out it was the first wide-screen laptop to enter the public consciousness. There had been at least one before by a PC laptop maker but it flopped. In true Apple style, however, the PowerBook for the 21st century became a sought after icon and now, several years later, every major PC laptop maker has followed Apple’s innovations and added widescreen monitors to their new models. The PowerBook was, and still is, one of the few laptops with an all metal body; starting with titanium in the first G4 PowerBooks to the aluminium used today.

This design effectively conveys the major selling point of the Titanium PowerBook—its widescreen monitor—and copies Apple’s minimalist advertising style.
